N: No Kill Shelters

A2Z-BADGE [2016]

Many people are reluctant to turn over stray cats or dogs to local shelters, not wanting them to be killed if no home is found. Knowing what shelters around you are ‘kill’ or ‘no-kill’ shelters is the first step in knowing which shelters to coordinate with.

To find no kill shelters in your area, you can do a google search using the terms ‘no kill shelter’ with your area. That usually finds many that are fairly close to you.

Another resource is this site. The nØkill Network is dedicated to promoting no-kill animal shelters, organizations, and rescue groups by helping people learn about and locate these organizations. Their site has a searchable directory that covers not only the United States, but also the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland.
